Beef Kabsa Rice

Aromatic spiced rice with cardamom and cinnamon, layered with tender beef. A traditional Gulf staple. A nizam al-tayyibat (نظام الطيبات) recipe built on natural, allowed ingredients.

  1. 1Sauté the squeezed onion in olive oil until softened, then brown the beef with it.
  2. 2Add the cardamom, cinnamon, salt, pepper, and 4 cups of hot water.
  3. 3Cover and simmer for 1 hour on low until the beef is tender.
  4. 4Rinse the rice well, add it to the pot, adjust salt, cover, and cook 20 minutes on low.
  5. 5Take off the heat and let rest 10 minutes before serving.
