Whole Wheat Cake

A whole-wheat cake made with butter and qishta, baked until set. A simple sweet for gatherings and guests. A nizam al-tayyibat (نظام الطيبات) recipe built on natural, allowed ingredients.

Ingredients
- •220 g whole-wheat flour
- 220 g sugar
- •140 g melted butter
- •120 g water
- •120 g whipping cream (or qishta)
- Vanilla
- •Pinch of salt
- 20 g baking powder
Steps
- 1In a bowl, mix the water with the cream (or qishta), then add the sugar and melted butter. Oil or melted ghee can stand in for the butter.
- 2Add the vanilla and a pinch of salt, and stir until smooth.
- 3Add the whole-wheat flour and baking powder, then mix until everything is well combined.
- 4Pour the batter into a cake mold and place it in an oven preheated to 175°C.
- 5Bake for about 40 to 45 minutes until set.
- 6Let it cool slightly before serving. Optional: dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate sauce.
Tips
💡If butter isn't on hand, use the same amount of oil or melted ghee instead.
💡Make sure the oven is fully preheated before the cake goes in so it bakes evenly.
