Ingredients

Steps

  1. 1Toast the bran toast until golden and crisp (regular toaster or 3 minutes at 200°C). Keep warm.
  2. 2In a small pan, melt the butter over medium-low heat until it turns light golden (don't let it darken or burn).
  3. 3Add the chopped dates and stir for 2-3 minutes over low heat until the dates soften, melt slightly into the butter, and form a natural caramel-like glaze.
  4. 4Spread the dates-and-butter mixture over the toast slices. Dust with cinnamon, then scatter chopped almonds (if using). Serve immediately.

Tips

💡Use soft, fresh dates (medjool or sukkari) — hard dry dates don't melt the same way in butter.
💡Butter temperature matters: medium-low only. If the heat climbs too high, the butter burns and bitterness overrides the date sweetness.
💡Toasting the almonds before scattering doubles their flavor — 2 minutes dry in a pan over low heat is enough.
